Last one for awhile from this lens, I've been experimenting with B/W and this done on a Mac using Preview and playing around with white/black points, gamma, smidgeon of Sepia, etc...

Local trumpeter Bob Montgomery had a 75th birthday concert last night. Tons of musicians showed up for the jam session. I played a couple of tunes, but mostly took pictures. It was great having so many of us in one place. In addition to simply being fun, I managed to fill in a lot of holes in my photo collection.

First, the birthday boy. I already had several shots of him I liked, but this one is my new favorite:

Bob's right hand man:

Another elder statesman of the scene:

And another:

Of course, plenty musicians of my generation were present, too:

And the younger generation - many of whom have been students of Bob's:

While itīs fantastically sharp wide open, it suffers from the same as the f/2.8 version I got it to replace - it leaves images dull & lifeless & requiring PP to perk them up. None of my other lenses suffer from this, just the 28s. Does anyone else get the same from the Pentax 28s?
No, but the M 28/2.8 is (along with the M 50/2) the least contrasty, most "flat" lens of all my Pentax SMC glass. Not sure why those two lens don't exhibit the usual contrast and rich colors of Pentax lenses, but there it is.

Taking advantage of the spring and the rendering of the M120/2.8:

Took my M100/2.8 for a walk around town recently and was very happy with its wide open sharpness as shown in this shot.

Thanks Rick - I wish I could say it was mine! I wanted to post a couple images from my cheap old M50 f/2 after reading an earlier post about that lens lacking in rich colors/contrast. I really like the images I get from my copy - these 2 shots had very little PP. Maybe I just lucked out & found a better than average copy. btw, keep those beer bottles coming!

Here's one more bike parked near the first one (same lens):

Another nice one!

I just got in the mail today the A 50/2.0 and posted my 1st pic in the A club section. From what I can tell just from the very early photos, this lens gets no respect. It's better than OK, as far as I can tell has good contrast and color. It might and I mean just by a little be soft wide open but there aren't that many lenses that are super sharp wide open either and it sharpens up nicely in PP... I love it!!!

Seems a little slow in here of late. Here's a couple more from the M120/2.8, and as a bonus, one from the M100/2.8, which I do still sometimes take with me to concerts in order to plug to gap between the 120 and the DA70/2.4.
