I think I'll join the club

I shot with a Spotmatic back in the early seventies, until the camera was stolen. On to Canon AE-1, till I got tired of film. Then, a series of Canon digital P&S, till I wanted to re-learn photgraphy. Now use K100D that I picked up used. I became intrigued with the ability to use manual lenses. This image was the first I shot with Pentax 50mm f/1.4; can't remember aperture, but it was close to wide open. Just got a Focal 28 f/2.8 and cannot wait to try it out. I am energized by the images I've seen in this club thread.

Great lens - that looks about wide-open, too...

Here's Tino saying hello - *istD with a lowly M50 f/2 wide-open:

Burzum- Lovely work- among the best I've seen on this thread. Beautiful tonality, daring composition and use of focus.

Thanks!
It is interesting how 5-blade aperture give 10 rays of light.

My ex-gf is either admiring the sunset or pondering her exciting (and permanent) trip home to El Salvador. This is also my first true portrait that I've ever taken. M135/3.5 @ 3.5

the Sunset near Kenting, Taiwan. M135/3.5

Near Kenting, Taiwan M28/2.8

I don't feel like I nailed the composition for the last shot. I'll retake this sometime trying to find that right angle and/or focal length because I know that there is a truly amazing photo here somewhere. It is still a good photo however.

Tried M*300/4 + AF1.7x + 9mm auto extension tube "K" as a butterfly "gun" today.
from about 15 feet (4.8 meters).

Holy smokes! That is sweet shot. M*300 syrely delivers even with converter and tubes there.

Once Mr. Pentax has finished repairing my dropped M 400/5.6 I'm looking at M400/5.6 + AF1.7x + 50mm extension tube to see what I can get with that rig. I'll try it with the 1.4x-S as well as without any rear converter. Thanks for posting this superb shot! It gets the creative juices running again.

The photos in this thread just keep getting better!

I really like your night exposures, dfujevec, as I'm a big fan of night/low light photography.

But low light shots take their toll on batteries; the set that I put in my K100D on July 9th already needs to be changed.

Fun little combo Repaap, believe it or not...sharper than K200/2.5 with AF1.7x
magnification easier to deal with at the shorter focal length than the M300.
Dropped the extension tube this morning, gained about +1EV and a little more
stability off of monopod because.

Hope Mr.P gets it goin for you Albert. We're "thisclose" to butterfly heaven here.
One rain storm ought to 'kick it loose'.

Couple from this morning with M*300/4 + AF1.7x

1-Viceroy butterfly. Mimics monarch in apperance.
2-Swallowtail-less Black swallowtail butterfly
