I've just recently got a good deal on M 100/2.8 -still on shipping
Needed a 'closer' portrait lens than 135's, looking for a 85mm but prices are higher than I can afford. Hope this lens is not bad. Can someone post pics from this lens, please?

A few from the 85mm f/2. The flower shots were taken with a 31mm extension tube attached, the lens stopped down to somewhere between f/2.8 & f/5.6.

Just go this lens in the mail, haven't had time to really try it out but I think I'm going to like. It's that odd zoom range that has me intrigued, 40-80.

From the few shots I've taken, it looks like the Macro feature is quite good; the 40 end seems like it will need stopping down, the rest of the zoom seems OK and colors typical of M's... hopefully I'll post a few in a day or so.

It is littl dreamy at WO, but when stoped down it can be quite good. 'macro' is not bad at all. not super sharp, but colour and rendering is (for my eyes) nice...not bad at all. My first pentax lens from film era.

If you search my flickr photostream (Flickr: noviodunum's Photostream) you'll find a fair number of images shot with that lens. It is one of my favourites.

A few from last night with a K100D & M35-70 2.8-3.5. In spite of its weight & bulk, I really love this lens. A couple of these were accidently shot at 800 iso

This one is cross-posted to the 300mm+ club. The M 400 f/5.6. Somewhere between f/8 and f/11, very near the minimum focus distance. Hand-held.

Kx + Pentax M 40-80/2.8-4.0

First few shots with this odd but attractive zoom lens. It's a tough lens to use, with mixed results if you're not careful. I've found the 40mm end to be very soft but usable by f5.6, the 60-80 range is quite usable even wide open and the macro is acceptable. The greatest weakness of this lens, IMO, minimum focusing distance which is 4 feet, this takes away many options. To top it all off, it's darn hard to focus but it's a Pentax

40mm @ f5.6

60-80 @f5.6

Some have mentioned this to be a good street lens and I can see why with the zoom range, it's just about perfect.

M85 F2

I have to be honest. At first when I got this lens I was like Meh... It was cold and the weather was not really looking okay, wasn't really happy with what I got. And then I tried again today and look at what I got from this lil beauty (: I think its DOF is really shallow so I was kinda worried about my focusing, but I think the K7 did an awesome job.

Also guys some critique would be nice.

I agree, that it's a great street lens, just about right focal for that too bad SR focal can't be changed rapidly. Not the sharpest, but there is some nice things.
