+1 for the underappreciated M50/2 ! These are some f/8 (I think) shots of my "vintage beater" 1981 Yamaha....

Yamaha ain't a bad guitar. After all, they are specialists in sound. I always advise beginners who cannot afford a expensive handcrafted guitar that for a good unexpensive guitar, they should go Yamaha.

A good player (not me ) can make even the crappiest guitar sing! But yeah, Yamaha has some of the best bang-for-the-buck entry models & their L-series solid-wood models are some of the best guitars anywhere. The one pictured was an inexpensive model from the early 80's. It's all laminate, but still has a pretty decent tone & is my "all-weather" & porch guitar that's mostly unaffected by heat/humidity/dryness

I've been checking every lens I have for signs of haze and this one has none at all, I think this explains why the shot is sharp with good contrast!!! But then I've found haze in a couple of lenses I like

Oh, Boy!

Guitar photos and discussion!

I have a bunch of guitars, none too expensive, but I'm a lousy player.

I just love guitars!

Here's one I bought as a photo prop that some of you may not be familiar with: A Puerto Rican Cuatro. Its tone is about midway between a mandolin and a twelve string guitar.

And yes, the photo was taken with an M lens - my 100mm M macro.

If anyone wants to discuss/trade guitar photos, let me know.

Perhaps we should start a guitar discussion thread.

Mike: I like guitars (guitarras en Espanol) and I make my living making guitars (Spanish guitars only: classical and flamenco). I do welcome the guitar show. I have not taken too many artistic photos because I look for detail when sending photos to a prospective client. Butl, I will try to take some.

I like it! Is it a real 'player' or is it mostly for show? That's a w-i-d-e neck, but I love the exotic styling. Would love to see your guitars, too, Pepe. Using M-lenses, of course

Very interesting, Pepe.

I also like Spanish Classical guitar music very much; this is what first got me interested in guitars, though I never practiced enough to be very good. Andres Segovia, Liona Boyd and Strunz & Farah are some of my favorites.

To avoid too much guitar talk here, I started a thread for photos and talk for all instruments.

I only posted a few photos now, but will post more later.

I have to run right now.

Paulh, it's a real instrument, though not very expensive. It cost about $250, but I have seen other Cuatros in shops which cost 5 and 10 times as much.

It's like any instrument: there are inexpensive ones, and those which can cost as much as an automobile.

And many people can't tell the difference from just a photo.

Talk later.

Mike
