The M series of lenses seem to be among the best series Pentax produced in the pre-digital and pre-Hoya days. They are compact, reasonable apertures, and have that Pentax pixie dust. Even way back when, on film, they had a snap and sparkle. I have quite a few 11x14 inch prints hanging taken with one or the other (28/3.5, 135/3.5) of them and they still look good.

I really like #2. Very sharp. I need to take my 75-150mm out soon. The weatherman is calling for possibly 68 degrees on Monday.... and NO wind!

It's hard to tell since I don't use it often falling in love with Vivitar series1 70-210mm. I received both lenses at the same time, and put M75-150mm on hold.
So, I practically started testing this lens. Mixed feelings, it seems to make too dark shadows, or it's just me testing it. It's amazingly dimensional, yes. Sharp if focused correctly. Not comfortable zoom range for walking around the park, but should be great for portraits. I just don't have any models around to test. Got the dog yesterday quick snap.
This lens has a character for sure, I just need to find out. I'm going to keep this one.

Go play with it. It's interesting to hear what you think about this one.

The weather is gorgeous today, so I just might do that. My knees have been very bothersome for the past couple of days, so we'll have to see. After receiving my FA 50mm, f:2.8 last week, it's like.... "Why bother testing any other lens, 'cause there can't possibly be ANYTHING sharper than this!" I've been obsessed with sharpness for what seems my entire life, never being satisfied, regardless of what lens I used..... until.... UNTIL I got this 50! Holy Sweet Jesus! I had NO IDEA an image could be that sharp! I truly believe it's sharper than my K-50 can resolve! IS that possible?

Sorry, I didn't mean to digress into another type lens, as my latest love is NOT a manual lens.... but, I just got carried away.

Oh, by the way.... what kind of dog is that? A nice looking animal, for sure. He/she's really concentrating on something.

Well, you can trigger LBA very well, now I wonder about that lens.
As for dog, I have no clue. It's a quick snap of someone's dog at the park. The dog and the owner were both friendly , but I did not have a chance to get more pictures.

I read in more than one review that it is considered "The sharpest lens Pentax ever made," and I fully believe that now that I've had a chance to see for myself. Absolutely astounding. Beyond any of my hopes or expectations! Color rendition and contrast are second to none! Bokeh is top drawer, also. To be fair and objective, I DO NOT own any of the Limiteds and "Star" lenses, so I can't rightfully compare it to them. I WILL say it's far sharper than any of the four Series 1 Vivitars I own.

Which "300" would that be? I can't possibly imagine ANYTHING being sharper than the FA 50mm f:2.8.... but then, there are a LOT of lenses I haven't tried!

As to which breed of dog is pictured, I'll go out on a limb, and say a Rhodesian Ridgeback.

I'm not an expert on dog breeds, just an animal over.
