A small query... I noticed that my lens (my copy at least) exhibits a focus shift at f/8... have you noticed the same thing in yours? I have to stop down every time to focus properly if the target is not far enough..

K30 with SMC M 50 1.4

Wildflowers are blooming along Wilson's Creek, NC

Not sure what the pink one is. The wild iris were only about three inches tall.

SMC Pentax-M 100/4 Macro

First one at f 5.6, second at f8. The frog is blue just for the mating season (usually it is green). The lizard was very small. M 100/4 Macro is very sharp even if looking at 100% crops.

I admit I don't think I've used the M 50/1.7 since last summer but I used it a little today and I can't believe I left it unused for so long.

These were taken on the Fuji X-M1, both at f/2.8 I think. Passed to my phone a processed in VSCO.

Hi LensBeginner, I tried today the lens at many apertures focusing all over and no shift at all ... I got my M 80-200 / 4.5 lens from a camera set with many other lens and it is not in a very good external condition (lots of marks), but the focusing ring goes smoothly and firmly ... Is that what you wanted I look for ? Does my answer helps you ?

Yeah thanks...it must be a thing with my specific lens then.
I can't focus wide open and then shoot at f/8, but I have to depress the preview button and I'm forced to use live view most of the time since otherwise the viewfinder gets too dark..
