I'm new to SLR photography, and I'm very much a budget photographer. My used K110D only cost £50, and the most that I have paid for a lens so far in my LBA spree has been £48 (that was for a brand new Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD MACRO 1:2). But more than that or the kit lens - I'M LOVING Ebay old glass!

I took these today using my favourite lens so far, a SMC Pentax-M 50mm F1.7 MF. I've also got a SMC Pentax-M 28mm F2.8 MF on the way, and a couple of old MF Tokinas. My two Pentax-M primes cost me £25 each.

Thanks to this forum for putting me on to cheap old MF lenses! Apologies for the photoshopping.

Received in the mail yesterday a M 75-150/4 in pretty good shape. If it doesn't rain as expected this weekend, I'll put it through its paces. So far, of the M series, I have...

M28/2.8 (two of them)
M35/2.8
M40/2.8 pancake
M50/1.7 (my original MX kit lens from 1976)
M135/3.5
M200/4
M75-150/4

Had a M400/5.6, but sold it to the King. Should never have cause I "loved" that lens. My 300 is a K model.

That M 50 1.7 is going to be one of the sharpest lenses you'll ever shoot, and
one of the most enjoyable - truly fun lens. Try some plant shots wide open to
see some nice bokeh.

Trojan, excellent photos there, I've had a look at your photostream too and there are some great pictures there too. I understand your ebay glass addiction, I just hope that it does not conflict with my own ;-)

That's for sure! When I bought this lens, I did not expect too much, but I love it. Just one of the pictures I made with it, posted elsewhere too (hope this does not bother you....).

Love that wide photo Rense - got to try something like that one day!

Thanks Richard, Tom, and jsherman for the comments - I have so much to learn from tou people. Don't worry Richard - I've got my 28mm now and I've burnt out LBA on Ebay for a while

One more from last night before the snow thawed. The 50mm closed all the way down to catch those starlights from street lamps:

May I compliment you on your photos -- they are very nice.

In addition, let me compliment you on your weight loss (41 lbs. is a lot!), and on Wolfy. That is one gorgeous husky! both of my sons have an Akita, (Kado and Keanu), and they are great pets -- except for the shedding.

SMC M 400mm 5.6

A bit brisk here in Waterloo today but took the 400 and tripod down to the frozen pond to see what we could see. Here's a few from today:

Trojan, I just love your streetlanternstarshot! Could you explain a little more about how you made this particular one? Was it totally dark? How long exposure?
