I am so delighted to see the old girl get loving use again. Thanks for using her in the SIC.

Here are a few shots from last summer which I just re-discovered. They were taken at a village event featuring traditional music and dancing from the region (Segovia) and in very, very low light. I used the K3 and M 100mm f/2.8, all shot from wide open to f/4 at as low a shutter speed as I could get away with. Even then I was using ISOs 2500+ and then pushing in PP too.

That first one wide open is a great abstract painting. I think this might be the sort of images I would go after if I took the plunge into macro.

Yes, I do the same, and I actually like what it does to the images. Nice set!

but here's a quick view to old town with M40:
Nice set of images there, it looks like the M40 renders quite like the 40xs. I picked an M40 up a few months ago for 20€, but haven't gotten around to using it yet - I'm guessing I should!

That is indeed what I have gathered. I suppose the coatings are different? I never felt the need for a hood on the XS - maybe shooting the M with a hood will even things out re flare resistance... I'll get to it and see!

Thanks.

That's a cheap M40. Usually they go for 70-90€. M and xs are quite similar, but I have impression that xs is a bit sharper.

More leftovers from M100/4. First couple from today:

And then couple from yesterdays sunset. I took just to see what happens when you go straight against the sun. I think it handles situation quite well, thought starbursts could be nicer:

Some more great shots proving that "old" is not "bad" when it comes to Pentax and/or Takumar lenses from previous eras. Thanks for posting these.
