Dutch windmills, too!

March Single In Challenge 2020 with K1ii & M100/2.8

So a wrap up time for M100/2.8. This lens with M50/1.7 is where I started my travel into manual lenses and especially M series after aperture block failed on my K30. A lot of my current activity on photography can be blamed on those two. M100/2.8 was also the first lens I wanted to replace with something sharper and bought M120 and M85 to do that. M100/2.8 has pretty good reviews on PF so sample variation could be factor. But that was APSC world with 16Mp sencors. 36Mp on FF sencor give so much more downsampling that small sharpness issues seen on APSC are really no issue anymore.

Overall rendering is really nice and colors are solid M series stuff. Same goes for build quality and handling. Fringing is pretty well controlled. In this regard M100/2.8 works better than sharper M85 and M120. Also noteworthy that sharness doesn't drop too much wide open and therefore I ended up shooting quite a lot wide open during the month. The gain in bokeh was more important than loss in sharpness.

I don't give this lens enough credit. It's perfectly usable, but I have lenses close by that I like even more, so it drops in between and don't find its way into my travel bag. So if I cut down my M collection, this is among the first group to go.

In April I continue SIC with M50/1.4.

Sample shots from the month:

Wide open

f4

f5.6

f8

f11

Jcdoss, that mountain stream photo with the moss-covered rocks is not just a great composition but the colours have a real subtlety but still have impact. I think it would have been very easy to walk past that scene and not notice the potential for an image.
Wow, thanks for such a thoughtful reply!
