Too wide and not wide enough is a common problem with the 35mm field of view, you're not alone. I have learned to work with it to a good degree with my 23mm Fujifilm lens. A focal length is like a relationship - it is what you make of it.

The M series sits in the middle of what makes vintage Pentax lenses great: optically better than the Takumars, mechanically better than anything that came after, lighter than the K series but still nice and solid. Lenses need to be assessed on their individual merits, but overall I think the M series is the best that Pentax produced.

I have greatly enjoyed your opinions, reviews and images from the M series, so thank-you. If you enjoy vintage lenses then there's absolutely no reason to stop with the Ms, there are plenty more out there and even some of the third-party lenses are fantastic.

That's well said. Lens design is always a compromice and in M's features are well balanced.

I have some cheap zooms and few M42 primes to play for next year to test how I feel about those. But I think my travel bag will be mostly M's also in future, so I'll be dropping shots

Although I have been slowly putting together a set of "K" series lenses, I am very fond of some of my Ms, especially the M100/2.8 and the M20/4. The latter is tiny and so gets squeezed into my travel bag quite often!

It's a bit early for autumn here in Arkansas, but some of the understory trees are showing a little color already.
