I believe it's construction-related. These rocks are part of a Jetty on the north side of the channel to Humboldt Bay. Last time I was there a major construction project on the jetty was in progress.

Beautiful composition and lovely work with the longer shutter time and the white water.
Thanks.

Sunrise this morning. Taken with the M50/1.4 at about f/8.

Nice foliage and colours. How do you like that lens compared to the 150/3.5, provided you have or had that as well, of course?

I have inherited a few. I like the manual lenses. I will find some worthwhile snaps.

IMHO the M120 is the best tele lens. M150 is close second.

I'm afraid I've never tried the 150mm. I have the 100/2.8, 85/2 and have used the 135/3.5 and 200/4. The 120 is significantly better than the 135 and is useable wide open, which the 135 really isnt as it's not sharp enough. There's not a huge difference between the 100 and 120, both are useable wide open but significantly better at f/4, with similar rendering.

Great, thanks for this information. I have always been tempted by the 120/2.8 but since I also have the K135/2.5 I've not bought one as they would be really close in terms of focal length. I like the M150/3.5 for the reach it offers in such a small and light package, but it can be a bit underwhelming in terms of sharpness wide open.

M150 wide open performance is among the best in M series. It gets sharper stopped down, but difference ain't as big as typically.

Some wide open shots with M150:

These sure are impressive. I've tried it a couple of times with birds, and that's where I found I lost a lot of detail in feathers etc.

A little flower, some sort of poppy, taken this morning after the first night with sub-zero temperatures.

It's crucial to nail focus wide open. Two of above is taken on tripod and live view to make sure focus is just right. From third I took several attemps to make sure I have one with focus I wanted.

Previous were with K1ii. Here is few wide open more with M150, but this time taken with K5:

Yep, that's true. Thing is that I use the same focussing method with the K135/2.5 as well as the M 300/4* and I get consistently better results with those lenses compared to the 150/3.5. I guess my copy just isn't as sharp.

I think some M lenses can have some serious copy variation. I've had quite a few 50 1.7s go through my hands and their performance for me varied wildly unlike the earlier Takumar 50s.
Of course my sharpest M 50 1.7 is the one with a warped mount, so I can't even use it until I get around to fixing it

Could be sample variation. I've seen test results that show M85 weaker wide open than I'm ready to believe based on my copy. But from what I've read K135/2.5 is supposed to be a sharper lens than M150. Maybe just go with it and crop a little if needed.
