I'll admit to cheating on 'iridescence'

Be sure to post results you get with M here. I shot nightscene with F50/1.7 today and it seems to be equally good at night
(Of course can't post it here, but it's behind the other lenses in single in challenge link below)

I had to quickly share these two images... The M 50/1.7 blew everyone else out of the water.

I might also have a Pano of this area shot with the 50/1.7 - I will look into it later on... It's late over here, time to shut down.

Nice clean files. Sharp and detailed. 1.7 did good work with lights as expected. Other good M's for nigth shooting are M28/2.8, M120 and if I remember correctly M85 does also good work.

The M 50 1.7 is a classic. It was the kit lens sold with the MX. I still have both! It may be 40 years old but still delivers.

What other lenses did you shoot that scene with besides the M 50 1.7?

I think the M 50 1.7 is an excellent lens, maybe my favorite for use on my film cameras. I wish the M 40 was more like it; faster, sharper wide open, contrasty wide open etc.

I think the M 50 1.7 is an excellent lens, maybe my favorite for use on my film cameras. I wish the M 40 was more like it; faster, sharper wide open, contrasty wide open etc.
This' going to seem like a very random list... Tonight I used (with two cameras, the K-50 and the K-S1 - ps, I like the K-50 better; albeit the K-S1 was handling the M42s herein listed):

1. Kiron 105/2.8 Macro - because it is my Single In for this month and I wanted to use it for a task that it was not intended for.
2. M 50/1.7 - because @iheiramo and I had some good discussions previously in this thread about what lenses were good for long exposure night shots. The M 50/1.7 was suggested and I realized I had one which I never used in digital.
3. Vivitar 24/2.8 TX M42 (Tokina) - because it was my previous Single In lens and it really surprised me last month, and I did not try the long exposure with it then on such a large scale.
4. Rikenon XR 35/2.8 (1st version) - because I love this lens and it had a hood already attached that I intended to use with another lens (the other lens being the K 100/4 Macro, who stayed in the bag... I only had 30 minutes to do these shots and it just did not make it into a camera body).
5. Tele-Takumar 200/5.6 - the odd one in... results were not good, but I think it was because the location / angle I had did not fit such a long FL. My fault.

And now these two, who were the original subjects of my shooting for comparison purposes:

5. K 135/2.5 - because it just came back from CLA by Eric, so I wanted to hit it with a hard task.
6. Super-Tak 135/2.5 (1st Version) - because I want to compare it with the K (which is similar to the Super-Tak 135/2.5 second version).

That is an interesting list of lenses. Surprised that you didn't like the Ricoh 35mm f2.8 lens more; it seems to review well, I've never touched one. The longer glass probably just doesn't work so well with that sort of composition.
