Two sister shots with the M 50/1.7. This is something I've been doing over the last few months, essentially the same shot but moving the focus. I've found it works well with something essentially at infinity, keeping the aperture wide to have a de-focused foreground, and something closer. The effect with two subjects quite close to the camera is lessened but it's the same idea.

Nice, the transitions between the in and out of focus parts of the image are very smooth. Plus I like HP5 (and FP4 perhaps even better)

I've got a roll of HP5 (?) in a bulk loader somewhere. Probably ruined, but I should fish it out and see if someone wants to roll their own and have a go.

I much prefer Delta 400 (or T-Max 400 but that's very pricey these days, like virtually all Kodak film) but for a while last year I could get HP5+ for €5 a roll (of 36) and it was too good a deal to pass up.

Did you clean it yourself? Have you done it before? Did you have help?

I cleaned it myself after chatting to a more experienced friend about what's best to use solvent wise, found 70% isopropyl alcohol sufficient. It was a light layer of fungus in-between the rear element. Needed a lens ring spanner and JIS screwdriver bits. Honestly glad I did it.

Just be careful not to flip any removed elements the wrong way

Well, that looks like it worked out allright, so well done. Apparently, there are people who will reverse elements on purpose.

Does this affect focusing at all HoutHans? Or does it create another desirable effect? Thanks by the way

I'm not sure, I believe that people do it to reduce sharpness and recreate the looks of older lens designs.

Very nice, I like the subdued tones in that image and the story you're telling.

Definitely do so; I find it very rewarding to shoot manual lenses.
