Thanks! I find 50mm a pretty good FL on aps-c for the coast/beach/shoreline - almost wide enough & almost long enough! (yes, they are pelicans)

M 50mm f/1.7. This lens so often gets overlooked because something else is newer, has AF, is a bit faster or some other reason but it's probably the most solidly-performing manual fast fifty I've ever used.

Quite agree, this is the version of the 50 I own and it has consistently made some of my favourite pictures, and as you lovely fungi shots show, is quite capable of close focus.

Love my M50/1.7, but I'm forced to admit that IQ in F50/1.7 is a touch better. Mostly due to being sharper wide open. Instead build, feel, looks and handling are miles ahead in M. F is basically AF use only, as you really don't want to touch that thing
