I bought an M 50 1.7 off feebay the other day for A$70... just waiting for it to arrive!! Ironically, this will be my first "Pentax" branded lens... I'm looking out for an M 28 2.8 and a M 135 as well... Can't wait!!

on my pentax istds. its good for price, but its darker than original pentax focus screen.

I bought the K20 about a month ago and wasn't impressed with the kit lens...
3 days ago I got a cheap SMC-M 50mm 1.7 and... WOW this lens rocks!
I love the manual focus ring (it seems to never end) and the exposure with the green button is great (with the usual +0,5 or +1.0 EV). It works like a charm with my K20. I'm using it almost always wide open, I love the shalow DOF images it produces. I will for shure get more manual lenses.
All taken at f1,7, the last one taken with very low light, iso 800, 1/10 sec, SR hand held.

Got my M 50mm f1.7 today. Awesome!!! Sharp at 1.7 and tack sharp from 4 up. Works well with my K200D.

I don't know, but would guess the lens was once owned by the military or some other organisation and they are inventory markings.

Not put on there by Pentax.
