Nothing special, just want to show how nice (i.e. sharp) the 85mm is wide open.

thanks jsherman, though they are just quick snap shots. Your dang "test shots" are what made me get this lens

Im sure im not the only one who has purchased or are going to purchase a lens because of your incredible "test shots."

Anyways I owe you a thanks because i am in love with this little beast of a lens, especially for portraiture (dont have any examples on this computer sadly)

My K10d with split image focus aids is pretty much dedicated to M and K lenses. Here is a 100% crop from the M 200mm I snapped yesterday 1/250 F8 no pp sharpening, handheld from a precarious slope. The full frame (reduced) is directly below. In its original size, the shot stands up very well in my final crop, below.

I've had my M lenses a while, but at a street price of less than $100 US, and a featherweight for tele, this is a nice lens handheld. I might not have gotten off the trail and in the brush with anything larger, and screw drive AF would have scared this crane away.

The M200 is a very underrated lens. It's quite sharp wide open and excellent from F5.6. I am considering getting the K200mm F2.5 but I will never sell my M200.

Kind regards

Agreed. I have been tempted by that lens and the newer, faster AF version, but even if I added that one, the M200 will still be valuable because it is so easy to carry and hand-hold. The upgrades weigh more than twice as much, and a lens does not do you much good if you don't carry it.

Old lenses are usually so inexpensive that you can have both a fast and a slow M/K-lens with the same focal length.

Kind regards

Agreed, too.

The M200 is clearly underrated. Solong I have no money for a DA200 the M200 is a very good way to join 200mm.

No, its an old abandoned Jewish cemetery in a forest near Kleinheubach (Aschaffenburg) am Main. I found it a year ago when a made a break in a car ride. Just stombling a little in the forest around looking for some birds I found these old graves. From time to time I return now and try to take pictures in a respectful way.

The plan is to make a whole series of pics. I think the dark winter is a good way to show how lost and remote this place is. 1942 is the "youngest" date I can read on one of the stones and I think we all know history why there are no graves later...

BTW. Do you GeneV or any other of our fellows here who know if its politicle correct for Jewish people to take pespectful pics from old, lost cemetries?

huh? what do you mean? keep shooting, you're doing a nice job. history is history, forgeting is wrong, but ignoring the present is just as bad. if anything, this is a respectfull homage of some old monuments, i see nothing wrong with that.

i particularly like the second one above, it shows off the qualities of the lens very well, amazing how it manages to spearate the snow on the stone from the background stone, in that light. i doubt you'd have much luck doing that with the da, good as the lens is.

TKH, you have made these lost, mute gravestones speak to us. You cannot get more respectful than that.

It's good to be a Pentax orphan

I'm hyped. In my camera club there is one Pentaxian (me) out of 100 photographers. I feel closest to the two Olympus users, a husband and wife team. All the rest are Nikon or Canon shooters.

Well, one of the Canikonians brought me a gift from one of her old relatives: a working Pentax MV camera, and BEST of all two mint lenses: an M50/2 and an M200/4.

We get 4 great days of weather, starting tomorrow. That M200 is going to get a good run. Judging from the 3 quickie test shots I took through my window, it's a gem. I will post as soon as I get some decent shots.

Great thread, and wonderful shots here. Can't wait to try the lenses for myself!

Received an M28 f3.5 today, and took it out for a little test at lunch time. Boring shots, but it's sharp!

f8 (I think)

f11 (I think)
