If you use the M lenses frequently, you might consider getting another focus screen for the K20d. Getting some focus aids in the screen, such as a split image/microprism screen made all the difference in my enjoying these older lenses.
An aid that I find more useful is the O-ME53 eypiece magnifier combined with the *ist D LL-60 screen for correcting exposure variations with M/K/M42 lenses.

I do NOT want to lose my spot metering ability, nor do I want to have my centre weighted metering to go off, so I do not want focus aids in the viewfinder.

I knew I sacrificed the spot, but I have not noticed a problem with center weighting on the K10/20 since changing out the screen.

M 400/5.6

Jason inspired me to take out my M 400. Managed a shot of a cold Black-Capped Chickadee this morning.

This got to be the best M400 image I've seen, well done.

M 85mm F/2

Brought my K200d w/out grip and the M 85mm to church as a small yet killer combo If I dont say so myself.

Here's a quick snapshot wide open:

Thanks Roger, Jay.

I haven't been out much of late. It's a shame when work gets in the way of your hobbies.
In any case, I took the old M 400/5.6 with me for a walk down by the pond. All the usual suspects were still there. As you can see this Chickadee was all puffed up trying to stay warm. I'm pretty sure I was colder than he was.

The colorful background matches the colorful sparkle in the eye reflection - good capture & composition, and your MF skills are very good - nailing it at f/2 85mm is not easy. The detail in the fingers, the overal pop of the image is much like what I see in forums taken with the expensive portrait machines (Canon 85 1.2 and Nikon & Pentax 1.4 at f/2.) I'd like to see a larger version.

Nice work with that Gem of a lens!

That is a great image, Tom! How much did you have to crop it? I know that a chickadee isn't going to fill the frame like that at minimum focusing distance of 5 meters! Or did you use extension tube? My 400 with the 50mm tube would come out close to that coverage. It images a 5x7 inch object on film at close focus with the 50mm tube.

Tom, you've got it wrong here - you inspire me, especially with that last shot! I need to try harder, or start using my tripod all the time. Very nice shot
