Tom,
That's the most beautiful sparrow I've seen. Audubon would be proud.

Thanks EyeSpy,

Much appreciated. It's not a Sparrow however, it's an American Goldfinch and they are a beautiful bird to be sure.

Nice. Never seen green ants before. Did you use a flash or simply natural light?

The previous pic (Green ants) and this one were taken with ambient light. In this one i also added an extension tube.

Your shots are getting good enough to worry about that now

Nice sharp images as usual. Good to see you not neglecting that 85 like I am right now.

Thanks Jay

I have completely neglected the 85mm once I got the F/1.2.... simply because shooting at F/1.2 is like being in a whole new world

I've been looking at hoods for all of my lenses, so i decided to purchase a 135mm hood for the 85mm. Once it arrived, i of course took some test shots and realized how incredible the lens is. Its got a magic all its own, which no other lens can match (that I've tried). I would sell the 50mm F/1.2 in a heartbeat if I had to choose between that and the 85mm

I hope someday to own the FA 77mm to compare them, and see if it indeed exhibits the same thing I see with the M 85mm

From my MX with an M-50/1.4

This was a scan from a color negative, converted to a (somewhat) monochrome.

I had shot with an FA77. great lens as well if you'll ask me and it's AF. somewhat displays the same IQ characteristics of the M85/2. the 77 is slightly faster, but the M85 is 85mm. and yes, both are sharp wide open.

Beautiful image LensScribe,

Great composition, lighting and use of geometric shapes.
