just scored a M28 3.5 for a whopping $15 CDN last night on the walk home (it pays to go into junk shops) so far it seems flawless, I'll take it to Paris and London later in the week an post something when i get back (I'm going to a Bob Greun Opening so I'll shoot some stuff there and maybe the strike on Saturday and see what it can do
from what i see so far great colour, reasonable bokeh, and nice and sharp through all stops

Nice shot of the 400 Bill.

You, Albert, Jason and I must have the only 4 copies of this lens in existance.

It's like being part of an exclusive sub-M club
I have heard of possibly 2 more of these lenses in the last year or so; one was for sale in the PF marketplace and another is owned by forum member chhayanat (who left me a guestbook message about it once).

Tom, I think that more likely it is that we don't have enough money to buy an FA* 400/2.8.

a couple of shots from the "new" M lenses (new to me anyway), total outlay $28.62 for both lenses I'm a happy camper and GAS satisfied for now (well there is the Leica M4-P with 2 lenses i came across for $599 but the Director of finance shot me down) all shots were pretty much straight out of the camera, there are b/w conversions on the flickr done with DXO to emulate HP% though

On the way to work SMCM 28 f3.5 @3.5

On the Way home SMCM 28 f3.5 @ f8.0 I believe

On the way home after picking up the SMC 200 f4.0 shot at f8.0 for both

Thanks Tom, Those mayfly's are something to see every year.
Al's right about one of those 'howitzers' but how about lug'n one of things around
really enjoy a 'shoot 'n' scoot' outing with it, lightness, robustness, and image quality
make it, in my opinion, maybe M series biggest 'sleeper'
I'm still learning with it, takes good light, have to be patient... think things thru

did kind of 'cheat' on that shot above, borrowed a friends film body just for fun.

this is real deal here(m400/5.6), looks like mayfly hatch is wrapping up.
water level is so dynamic, its hard to get in tight on anything, see high water mark?
from just 3 days ago, already algae blooms are getting ugly. Herons are eating good tho.
best to all,
Bill

I am using my first prime lens M50 f2 but am about to let go of this wonderful lens tonight. Love all the pictures taken with this lens but am upgrading to A50 1.4, can't wait to see greater opportunities and wonderful pictures...

I now have one (1) prime, and it's an M50 f/1.7. I'm still getting to grips with it. I bought it for indoor/low-light use, but I'm finding it a lot easier to focus outdoors. This is cropped but otherwise unprocessed. Pigeons are evil.

I'd like to join up. Using two M primes. 50mm f/1.4 and 28mm f/2.8. The 50mm is by far my favorite and getting more use than my kit lens!

F? Fa?

Isn't that to modern? I don't like plastic.

It actually has a metal body. Don't get fooled by the FA50 construction that uses more plastic. The FA 135 is very sharp and it also focuses much closer than its K/M relatives: 0.7m vs 1.5m. It's a superb lens.

the F/FA 135 aren't plastic. even the F/FA100/2.8 are made of solid metal barrel which are tougher and heavier than their DFA (old DFA and new WR DFA) macro counterparts.
QuoteOriginally posted by yeatzee Quote
Its a block of metal molded into a fine piece of imaging equipment, not some plastic "maybe fantastic"

I felt bad even trying to compare the M 135mm vs. the F 135mm
(not saying its bad.... its just not up to par with the F/FA)
Thank you guys, I'll extend my search criteria.
