I just bought my first M lens and am awaiting it's arrival via ebay. It wasn't as cheap as some peoples were, but I have been having trouble finding it cheap in Australia anyway It's an M50 1.7 and I'm just dying to try it out for portraiture and street shots. Looking at the photos here is just heightening the anticipation for it lol. My current lens is the 18-250 tammy, so it will be quite an adjustment to use a prime. I'm thinking of doing the photo a day a month thing to help me get used to using it

I hope mine comes today. All mail has been delayed for days due to this hideous Georgia snow/ice storm and aftermath.

The M50 1.7 is a great lens. a few people are using it for this months single in January (iris is one)
the Single in ... is a great way to really challenge yourself and get to know a lens. I'm shooting the M 28 f3.5 this month and there are days i really struggle with it, but that is more driven by the weather up here

look forward to seeing some results, and keep your eyes open, i'm pretty sure February may have another single in game

With my 50mm f/1.4. I think it's a 6 second exposure at ISO 200, f/11. I added some contrast in Photoshop.

Edit: This photo looks a lot darker on my screen today than it did yesterday. I recently got a Pantone Huey Pro calibration tool, and I'm not to happy with it. It's supposed to monitor the ambient light and adjust for it, but it doesn't do a very good job of it.

I´ve just been looking at my new M50 1.4 & the aperture lever seems to be the type that became standard on later lenses, where the whole lever moves up & down in a linear fashion, rather than appearing to be anchored inside the lens and "swing" from one end to the other. The only other M lenses I have with me this weekend are the M85 & the M28/3.5, both of which have the older style lever.

Bojidar Dimitrov describes this change as one of the visible differences between the type 1 & type 2 28mm M f2.8 lenses. Is it possible that the same thing was done with the M50 1.4?? Can other M50 1.4 owners comment on which type their lenses are?

Bought 1981(best recollection)
unforgettably from Krumenachers Camera, Jennings,Mo.USA Carl Krumenacher,Prop.
Carl would never let you walk out empty handed
but he never let you spend too much, missed dearly by entire community.

Didnt know there was more than one production model,
dont know what difference looks like

john5100,

Although I like the photo, I thought this thread was about Pentax M lenses? Is this Vivitar a Pentax M lens?
