Kx + Pentax M 150/3.5

150mm results in slightly different rendering, maybe just my imagination Colors are nicely saturated, and wide open this has such pleasant sharpness/look about it.

Well done Rick.

I've got the M 150/3.5 and haven't used it for ages.

You've inspired me.

Thanks Tom, it's a nice lens!

Truth be told, I gave up on Pentax M lenses simply because my K10 and K20 did such a terrible job metering using the Green button, I would end up taking at least 4-6 shots just to get the exposure right or even close, extremely frustrating as well as irritating. However, I recently picked up a K-x and found this little camera does an absolutely super job metering manual lenses using the Green button, spot on almost everytime! Not only with M's but Takumars as well. Now, after a few shots with M's, I can see what I've been missing, great lenses with color, contrast and sharpness... I hope the K-x lasts for awhile

e.g. from a single shot, almost perfect exposure, I might have been able to do a little more PP... (x-posted)

Good to know,

I've not tried many of my M series with my K5 for the same reason.

I'll experiment this weekend if time allows.

Testing out an M75-150/4 on an *istD. I need to start using this lens more often!

A few shots with my M50Macro. I'm pretty sure that both macro shots were at f4. It's great at short distances but I continue to be very underwhelmed by photos at infinity. they aren't very good although I haven't used the lens in optimal conditions so perhaps there is a second factor.

This photo didn't need to be sharp

Greetigs from London

Two or three lunch times a week in my lunch hour, I take a lens out to test. I have collected so many manual lenses I tend to photograph the same subjects each time just to compare IQ etc. Here are two from the M 35-70 2.8-3.5, and two from the newly acquired M100 2.8. Both very nice lenses. I can never get white base correct - some times cloudy works, some times neon white light, so all are PP'd for whitebase and a little histogram

Nice work! On my monitor, images #2 and #4 look very good. #1 and #3 look a little underexposed.

If you're referring to White Balance when you say "whitebase", they all look OK...

Rick

Thank you for your comments. These looked fine on my monitor at home but when I checked my posting at work this morning I was horrified. Well, slightly embarrassed anyway. I suppose every picture we view is subject to the differing brightness and contrast on each monitor.

I am re-posting the two under-exposed pictures - I have moved the histogram slightly to the right, and enlarged and straightened a little. On my monitor these look slightly overexposed to me now but if they look OK on the forum I shall adjust any future posings accordingly. Or I might just give up posting altogether and just read and join in the banter. And go back to beginners corner to learn that WB means White Balance

ps I won't be able to see any difference until I get to work tomorrow but feel free to let me know meantime
