Or I might just give up posting altogether and just read and join in the banter. And go back to beginners corner to learn that WB means White Balance

ps I won't be able to see any difference until I get to work tomorrow but feel free to let me know meantime

These shots look much better, imo. I run into problems like this when I try editing on my laptop - the results are never as good as when using a good calibrated monitor. You might try this site to check things out: Photo Friday: Monitor Calibration Tool

I envy your lunchtime photo tours - nice to have scenery like that handy. Love the rendering of those M lenses, too. Very nice shots.

At one point I was going crazy because my photos looked fine on my calibrated monitor in Photoshop, but when I posted them online, they would look awful in any non-calibrated browser. Dark, too much magenta. I use Adobe RGB for editing because it has a nice big gamut (without being crazy). However, most computer systems use sRGB by default, and images in the Adobe RGB color space look way off when displayed as if they were sRGB. So I now convert all photos to sRGB before saving them for the web. Makes a big difference.

Thanks! The stage had more clutter than usual - music stands, lights, mic stands, etc - and it was tough to get compositions I liked. That shot from the 120 is Straight Out Of Camera (in terms of cropping, anyhow), but other shots needed to be cropped further to eliminate distractions. I ended up keeping nothing from my DA70 as they were too 50/50 in terms of subject / distraction ration. I did end up using some shots from my DA40 and M28.28, which I use only rarely for concerts. Plus an obligatory full band shot with the DA15.

I remember discussing the 120mm FOV and the effect it had on my shots at this particular venue when I first got the lens. As with any prime, sometimes it nails the FOV I want, but indeed, sometimes it is long, and sometimes short. What I have found through more experience with the lens is that I really like synergy between it and my DA70. The 70 I can use SOOC but at least as often crop to more like an 85-105mm FOV. The 120 is used SOOC more in small venues, but I don't hesitate to crop a 135-180mm FOV when shooting from further away.

I'd still say that if I could have only *one* prime for this type of shooting, it would be a 100, but having 70 and a 120 is the best two prime combo I have found, and realistically, I do more with the 120 than the 70.

Yeah, an' at that time I thought your 105 stuff was 'better' under similar circumstances. But now it looks like experience with the 120 has definitely leveled the field. These are excellent.

Here's a few while taking the *istD & M75-150 out for a spin last week:

wide-open @f/4

Don't ask why a tire is sitting in the roller hockey rink...(this was shot almost into the sun, but used the built-in hood)
