M28 f2.8

I went out and to practice using shooting at hyperfocal distance. I don't even know how to do it with manual lenses without measuring. I probably should have just set focus to infinity. It's okay, though, I considered it a learning experience.

This experience has also inspired me to buy a remote control, and I'd like to get a 10 stop ND filter.

If it is anything like my M wide (28/3.5) for hyperfocal distance, just line up the orange marks to get the equivalent of a fixed focal length lens. If not, or if you want to try something else, have a close look at the aperture and distance scales. You will see that there are marks corresponding to each aperture each side of the distance you set the lens to. If you line the infinity focal mark against the aperture you have set, the other side will show you the closest focus distance. Keep in mind that the marks are based on 24x36 enlarged to 8x10 inches and take that into account.

Congrats on your latest M, Rick. I really love the colors/rendering & just plain sharpness of the 75-150. I see it also passed your chainpost PF test, too . I was shooting objects against a bright sky, even almost into the sun a few times, and couldn't coax much PF from it either. I know you'll be putting it to the test - enjoy!

I'm still bemoaning the poor remains of that one I left in the camera shop last week.... maybe its not that bad, maybe they'll sell it for a 100 bucks just so I can take it off their hands since it is in such terrible condition.

Maybe I will just pass and buy a Rokinon....

Front element is pretty scratched, a big chunk o dust, and less than snappy aperture blades... all for what I would consider a premium price (considering it will get hit with tax).

They're asking the same as I could buy the Rok new.

It is so cute though, I didnt realize M85 f2 was so small.

Scratched front element shouldn't be a big deal for IQ (check my thread on MF here), contrast will take a big hit but PP can easily fix that. Aperture issue if due to oil on blades can be cleaned. However, I wouldn't pay more than $60-$70 knowing a fair one would probably cost $225-$250

Venice by night

New member here. Probably not the best part of Venice but I thought it came out quite good...

Let's see what comes out... I'm so... newbie! And you've been so kind to post a comment 8 minutes after my very first picture posted here :-)
Now I see the time... I'm at work in Italy and it is 10:54 AM and you are "in the middle of the night" in Australia I guess! Strange but nice ;-)
