Great macro shots you've been posting! I'll also say you've got some strange & awesome bugs there in Finland

Maybe I can join this club now. I bought M 50mm 1.7 from auction site and got it on Friday. The only drawback is that it has some fungus in it.

I've heard so much of this lens so I'm going to try to clean it.

Sometimes issues with the front element of lens will not greatly affect Image Quality, you should just try it out, loss of contrast can easily be adjusted PP

To bad about the fungus. If it doesnt work out at least you got a cool photo out of it.

Bah that fungus won't bother a single shot.. especially with an APS-C sensor.. Just keep it in a dry container when not in use and it will hopefully stop the spread at least.

I know it won't, but I wanted to try and clean it. I took it apart, removed that front lens fungus and found "haze" or fungus between those two glued lenses.. It can be seen only when looking through the lens at direct light. Oh well.. I've done all what I can. I took some test pictures and pictures are fine to me. Maybe some front focusing with catch in focus.

Testing the macro capabilities of the 85mm f/2 at f/5.6 (I think) on extension tubes. First 31mm then all three: 31 + 21 + 12.

Hi, I believe this is my first post in the M Club!
Recently got a M 1.7/50, curious how this smaller and lighter lens performs as compared to my 1.4/50 Taks.Since most photos I take kind of 'on the road' small and light are very important to me, therefore currently I use a NEX5N, not my Pentax dSLR

M f1.7/50 wide open on NEX5N in Saigon:

cheers,
Andreas

Nice shots, interesting to see a M50 mounted on a Sony NEX. Looks like it works very well for you.

Nice, very nice! Seeing your photos makes me want to give the m4/3 another try. Last summer I discovered how nicely the G10 plays with manual lenses. IMHO, M's and Taks work very well with my Pany, stopped down metering is very accurate, no green button, Electronic View Finder, screen stays very bright, and magnification of subject in VF helps with more accurate focusing...
