This one is cross-posted to the 300mm+ club. The M 400 f/5.6. Somewhere between f/8 and f/11, very near the minimum focus distance. Hand-held.
You're making the old M 400/5.6 sing there my friend.

Hand held?? I'm impressed.

If I tried that with mine it would be little more than a smudge.

Thanks, Tom. I love any opportunity to use this lens (except when I don't have it with me). I did have to correct for purple/green fringing, and the shot was at ISO 800 with a shutter speed of 1/500. I was able to nail the focus and get a lot of shots because the bird stayed in one spot for a few minutes. If only all birds responded to my presence that way... ha ha.

Kx + Pentax M 40-80/2.8-4.0

These shot at F5.6 (not in macro) PLUS just for fun used my teletakumar hood on the lens, which is very long and adds a lot of stray light protection. Shot a few quickies, I think the hood is a needed accessory to this odd but attractive lens; back on the 40-80 wagon
