Agreed, In fact I expected it to be bigger, so when I saw it in person, found it a small and light long lens! and I love small and light lenses.
I was observing my surrendering during using it, didn't see anyone getting attention of me and my camera pointed in their face. and that was cool!

The non-macro M100/2.8 is a lovely and small, light lens too. It is one of my favourite M lenses and I often have difficulty deciding between it and the M85/2... K.

There's this one, but he's always a bit "pricey", but the quality is "A+" ... PENTAX 35/2.8 KM SMC PENTAX AL19/N
Jean , I have a very descent copy of this lens which would be a very nice addition to your wonderful M collection ;-)

I used the Brenizer method & the M 85mm f/2, wide open, with the camera set on jpeg-only 2MP files. Cross-posted to the Brenizer thread. If you look at it larger, the 3D effect will be greater.

That is a really effective technique, Jonathan - I looked at the original and it really does look 3D. Thank you for posting this!

My 2 favorite lenses. M100 f/2.8 shot with M50 f/1.7 on a K-5. Light source is a single LED in a 8 sec exposure:

Well, I just let the last of my M series lenses go, but in memoriam, a couple sets on Flickr for my two trusty favs of the bunch...

Pentax-M SMC 50mm f/1.4 - a set on Flickr

Pentax-M SMC 35mm f/2.0 - a set on Flickr

These were the first two Pentax lenses I absolutely fell in love with and helped shape my photography for years.

A macro shot from my M 100mm f/4 macro
It was too dark, so I decided to use on camera flash the only light source available. thus I could stop down to f/11 or maybe f/16 not sure.
