Managed to get this bee shot using my 28mm Tokina and reverse mount.
Not the best focus, so I'll have to keep trying!

Mark, it looks like there are some very shallow areas that are pretty sharp, but it's difficult to get much DOF with a RR. The photographs possible with a reversing ring are pretty amazing. For less than $5.00, one can compete with some very expensive macro lenses. Here's a couple I took earlier in the year. My first attempt with a ring. Both were with a SMC Pentax-M f:1.4, 50mm lens.

Thanks Mark. It was one of those rare times when the stars were all aligned and things went my way. I could have used a little more DOF, but I was happy with the results for the first time out. The colors were much more than I had hoped for. Believe it or not, there was very little PP. It was a very bright, sunny day.... and Mother Nature provided lots of color!

Well, you can't really go wrong when nature provides both colour and sunlight! But, kudos for the focussing goes to you!

It's a ring that screws onto the filter thread of the lens, which then (in the case of Pentax) have a K-mount bayonet so that you can mount he lens on the camera back to front, i.e. with the rear element pointing away from the camera. This allows you to shoot extreme macro without introducing extra glass.

Until now I was mainly a lurker in this Club, but I love my M lenses, those tiny especially. Some examples below.

M40 as infrared and “normal” lens (both on K100D)
