Nice shots Mike.

I'm gaining a lot more respect for this little macro. I found it a bit limited on film but the "digital dividend" pumps it up to about 75mm which is a much more useful focal length for a macro. You won't find a sharper lens and it is so light-wieght you can carry it around all day.

Cheers,

Tom G

Thanks Tom,

I only bought it because it went for a silly price on Ebay and to be honest I used it once and put it away. Only got it out as I was going to put it on the forum marketplace but not so sure now.
Only thing is it over exposes horribly on the K10D.

M Club 50mm f/4 macro over exposure

Mike,

Over exposure. Hmmm. I hadn't noticed it on my K10. It probably happens with my M 50 macro as well. I just fiddle around with the aperture and shutter speed until I get something I like in the LCD panel. I then check the histogram for further confirmation. I use this procedure with all my manual focus lenses. I find I use my K and M series primes almost all the time and I don't even think about it any more. The results are usually worth the little bit of extra time and effort to my mind. I suppose one could adjust the exposure on the K10 to compensate if you were going to use the lens for an extended period of time.

Cheers

M Club - 50mm f/4 macro

Hi all,

Over exposure/under exposure whatever. I took the M 50mm macro out after reading Mike's post to see what I could find and have some fun. Nothing spectacular but here's what I got today:

Cheers

M 85 f/2

.

OK, I'll just have to make do with my other M's.

Some quick M85 f/2 snapshots from the backyard a couple minutes ago.

The M85 f/2 is my fave M.

M Club - M 50mm f/4 macro

Way to go Mike. You are going to be personally responsible for driving up the price of this lens on the used market.

The M100 f2.8 renders more pleasing skin tones, at least to my eye..And for a lot less money than the FA77..

M 100 vs FA 77

Brian,

On my monitor the FA 77 appears to be a bit sharper but the M 100 has the more pleasing skin tones. I agree with Bruce on this score. I always liked the M 100 2.8. Like a bloody fool I sold it ages ago.

Cheers,

Tom G
