@iheiramo:
you also could give a second chance to your M 100 2.8 - as a bokeh effect lens...
...for example mine...
...my bokeh unique - probably once disassembled and with reverse mounted rear lens...but i did keep it...

Pentax-M 1:2.8 100mm surreal or acid edition ;-)
F/3.4 - 4.0; K-1; linked to ooc jpgs.

shallow swirly background

some bubbles

central rest sharpness just sufficiently for an eye

Huh, that's quite a bokeh. My version has the soft and dreamy bokeh typical to M's.

Part of me wants to buy all focal lengths of M's. Simply for the joy of owning them. But the truth is that I would not use them all and my wife would appreciate if I also sold something from time to time

On the other hand I have DA50/1.8 in mint condition which has also been useless for a while... Maybe I could sell it and keep the M's. We'll see.

From sunset to sunrice. Summernight in Finland.

I've been waiting to do this post

Visited my friends summerhouse in July and we sit by fire thru the night. The place is far enough in the north that it doesn't get dark during the summer night, but still below polar circle. I shot way too many shots of the sky as the colors were changing all the time.

The moon wasn't visible from the fireplace. Had to take a boat to get the shot. 1am K5 M50/1.7:

Can't really say what the problem is. They just look flat to me.
I don't understand this. Can't you just boost the colors/contrast in post with ease?

Flat might not be the right word, as it's not about colors/contrast. Can't really word it out even in Finnish why I'm not satisfied and don't know if that even matters. There's just something missing due to user or lens.

Tampered with for sure... but nice results nonetheless!

Sold my unromantically modern DA50 and ordered M85/2. M120/2.8 will have to wait an other month. Decided that I could justify 100 in between if it were macro, so M100/2.8 is on sale and will get M100/4 macro instead at some point. Also decided on a long term goal of owning M's in all focal lengths from 20 to at least 300, so collector in me won the inner battle. At least for now

DA 18-135 I'll keep so my wife and child have something to shoot with. Personally I'll keep on shooting with M primes only for awhile.

I'm sure you will enjoy the 85mm. You made me realise that I forgot to pack mine when I left home yesterday to spend a week outside of the city

I was going to say that you might have ti wait to find a good 120/2.8 as they're fairly rare, but a search on ebay shows a few in good condition and some even at reasonable prices.

The one below (from Japan) looks like a good deal. It's cheaper than the one I recently bought for 99GBP (in virtually mint condition).

There has been one 120 on sale for some time here in Finland in the same shop where I got 85. Actually tried to get both at the same time, but wasn't satisfied in what they offered for DA50 and M100. I had thought to wait until I had sold 100 before I buy the 120, but maybe I need to reconsider the tactic. I had not taken rarity into consideration.

For ones Finnish post was a positive surprise. I ordered the lens in Friday and it arrived already on Saturday. I wasn't expecting it until next week. Had to go out shooting

Back to July and shots from the holiday. Mountain biking in Manamasalo island in Oulujärvi. It's an esker island formed by melting glasier back in ice age. Beautiful implementation of typical Finnish nature with pine wood forests, kettle lakes and swamps. All shots by K5 and M50/1.7. Three last obviously panoramas:

Oh wow, just oh wow. I'm a big fan of traditional sailing ships. That's an unbelievable fleet together in one place.
