I've seen some miniature horses, but that's the first one I've ever seen that was THAT small.

M 50mm f/1.7 in a Japanese cemetery. One of the few digital photos I took with that lens on the trip.

I decided to go for single in challenge again. This time with M100/2.8. The weather will ad some extra challenge as it's typically quite grey at this time of the year on the south coast of Finland.

My challenge album: SIC 2017 12 Pentax M100/2.8 | Flickr

I don't know if I missed focus on this somehow or is it just the weather that made this so soft, but I think it captures todays weather quite well. M100/2.8:

I see that like me you've now got the trio of short-ish, fast M primes - 85/2, 100/2.8, 120/2.8.

I keep thinking that I should do a comparison between all three but so far I haven't gotten around to it.

I made some comparison shots and posted some of them here when I bought 85 and 120. They can be found on pages 415 and 416. My conclusion is that 100 is not quite as sharp as the others, but difference is so small that in most cases it's hard to see without pixel peeping. It's most obvious when there is high contrast in fine detail in the shot. 85 draws lighter than others and it has a special bokeh.

100 is good, but 85 and 120 are even better. I think I will chance my 100 to macro version when I can find one, as I don't have any macro lenses at the moment.

Well, thank you. An offer you can't refuse. At least I don't think I can

We went to the tables with the whole family today, because wife wanted pictures of the horse she has been riding lately. The mančge was almost too dark. Shot M50/1.7 wide open, pushed ISO to 3200 on K30 and took everything out of noice reduction in Capture One to pull some succesfull shots thru. CIF was no help in the dim light, so had to prefocus and shoot a burst as rider went by.

It's great that newer bodies are pushing ISO performance forward. It would be nice to be able to go down to 12K or 25K when needed. Low light performance is very important feature for my next upgrade.
