A blackbird.
It's tricky to photograph the little fellas, since they tend to jump away as soon as you are happy about focus...

M200/4 @5.6

Resizing and jpeg compression spoiled fine detail a little bit... I'm quite happy about it even at 100%

Huge overproductivity problems with M100/4. Single in challenge just ain't enough for this lens

The brother of your M100/4 macro, that is the /2.8, is probably my favourite lens.

1. that horse hair... so sharp it almost hurts your eyes!
2. 3. 4. nice prefocusing technique. So you can do action shots with MF lenses!

I didn't prefocus #4. It was taken with catch in focus. A great feature. A lot of my action shots are taken with it. Well I use it a lot also for the still subjects, if the target is in the center. I use the AF/MF switch in the camera to turn it on/off.

I took a set of comparison shots between 4 & 2.8 when I got the macro. 4 is better at close distance. 2.8 is better at infinity. Pretty much equal in the middle. 2.8 has more contrast. 4 has better bokeh and probably due to lower contrast seems to work really nicely in strong contrast of midday sun.

I never warmed up to catch in focus, since theoretically the camera fires at the beginning of the "focus zone", and that's not always optimal. Perhaps it's an unjustified fear on my part.

This is a famous page by a really meticulous Italian photographer who pitted the /4 against the Micro Nikkor:
TESTÂ* n
Plenty of interesting material & scans.

I haven't noticed problem with that, but I have noticed that K5 AF isn't as good as in K30 and, as I seem to favor K5 nowadays, I can't rely as much on it that I used to do.

Too much info. My italian is not good enough. Old advertice materials were interesting.

We enjoy them. Keep on posting. (And it doesn't have to be the 100/4 macro!)

I remember playing with CIF on my K200D but it was so inaccurate as to be unusable, I never got an in-focus shot from it. I suspect that it would function a lot better stopped down, but I often take pictures at large apertures.

I think with your K3 (signature) it will be another story altogether.

I love mine as well - but my copy suffers from some "spots"/haze behind the second element, and I still can get the lens disassembled from the front...

I'll do that (and I forced to chance the lens due to conditions). I went to the local car museum to take the shot of the day, but that was a bit of a let down. Inside the light was too dim for the 100/4, but luckily there was one Oldsmobile with really nice color under maintenance outside.

I tried to shoot with M28/2.8, but forgot to chance the focal length for the camera and SR ruined the shots with it. I had taken M50/1.4 with me just in case it's too dark inside and it saved me some shots, but white balance was really hard in the mixed light conditions. Of course the most interesting cars were in darkest places.

Old Ford wide open:

One of the oldest in the show. From 1917 I believe:

The place is in old barn and run by a local car club volunteers, so it's not the nicest and tidiest place. The more common models were upstairs and quite dirty to be honest:

Had to clean some bird droppings in the post to make this FIAT presentable:

Back to outside and M100/4. There where 2 old, but pretty much unused, soviet made military vehicles outside. Headlights of ZIL 6x6 army truck. During my service we usually used this to move. Terrible beasts. They drive as well both on and off road. Terrible on tarmac, but offroad they go pretty much anywhere. Gasoline consumption typically around 50l/100km. Our army bought these a plenty when soviet union was still intact, because these were cheap and we needed to buy something in order to sell goods to them:

*snip*
Looks like a real treasure trove!
I get my dose of car photos from the events that happen in Tuscany... now that I think of it, there's the Piaggio Museum in Pontedera, but I never had the chance to visit it...

Here's a picture I took last winter, yeah, I know it's quite out of season right now, with my M 135/2.5 of some ice that had formed under the influence of strong easterly winds. The shapes were very nice and really worked magic with the low sun. I'm not sure about the aperture, but I guess fairly open considering the 1/1000th exposure at ISO 100.
