jcdoss, is there some guidance somewhere about how to do stand development of c-41 films that you could recommend? Are you pushing film with this method? I've been really interested in this kind of thing and have found some information online but it's kind of light on details. I saw someone that was pushing Portra 400 and I think Fuji Superia 400 or 800 with really great results via stand development.

Tell me your c-41 stand development secrets!

I don't remember where I found the info, but it resulted from a google search. I had stand-developed in caffenol for quite a while at like 70 min (CCL) so 45 minutes sounded about right to me. I wasn't sure about 60min in blix, but figured what the heck... it sounded proportional to normal dev/blix times so I went with it. To be honest, I think this is the best C41 roll of film I've ever developed. My agitation scheme was agitate for 20-30 seconds after capping the tank, and go watch TV until the timer went off. :-)

Here's another shot from the same roll. I scanned the negative as an image and reversed it in PS with only minor tweaks to the color in a few frames, but not this one.

Downtown KCMO
K1000 SE, M20f4, Lomo400

I am pretty sure I exposed this roll at 800, but plum forgot about increasing the time in developer for push processing. As you can see, I'm not very scientific when I develop film. I found a conversion somewhere to multiply dev time 1.25x per stop. For the record, some of the shots did look a bit underdeveloped (underexposed?) like my dog portrait above, so maybe the extra time would have yielded better results. When I get thru this month of B/W, I'll go back to my C41 stock and try this again for sure.

Thanks for the interest!

M120/2.8 November Single In Challenge 2018

I'm done with November Single In Challenge and time for my monthly wrap up. In December I participate with M50/4 macro. Still shooting SIC in APSC format and keep on using K5 as my main camera in it to keep my results comparable to previous lenses. After December I only have M35/2.8 and M150/3.5 left in my first test round of M series primes between M28/2.8 and M*300/4. I still haven't found the M150 so at least it will be delayed to later times. I'm quite eager to start the second round in FF

I went into the month with high expectations. This is the tele lens in M series between 100 and 200mm. A lot like M100/2.8, but better in everything. Only negative surprice during the month has been green and purple fringing. It can be quite severe with this lens and need to be taken in consideration. Like all the M's it's a bit soft wide open. Usable for bokeh shots, but I prefer to stop it down to 4 if possible. From f5.6 it's really sharp.

November is probably the worst month to shoot in Finland. Dark, rainy and colorless month and it can be seen in the album: SIC 2018 11 Pentax M120/2.8 | Flickr

I really like this lens. It's sharp, typical M series rendering and nice bokeh. Also very compact for it's focal lenght so easy to carry on trips. It's been the long lens on my travel bag and continue to be in the future. This lens is a keeper.

This lens is reasonably priced for it's quality and therefore excellent value. It's a bit unusual focal length and not very famous, so apparently people just don't know about it. If you find it somewhere, I recommend you to get it.

Beside the SIC I've been testing the lenses in K1ii. It looks like I can safely put my DA21ltd for sale. M28/2.8 can provide the wide angle starburst shot for me in future

K1ii & M28/2.8:

M40 looks even smaller with bigger camera.

Well done. I've rebuilt my whole system around APS-C and have not the money to move up to the K1/K1II, but you show the M's are all that much better on the sensor size that matches the film size they were designed for. Of course my lonely remaining M, the 400, has better reach on APS-C, but that also means that the field of view still needs a better lens than the 55-300 for precision work.

I ment to wait until spring to see what Pentax releases next year in hopes that it would lower the price of K1ii, but there was 500€ discount in one store in Finland in black friday. It was a too good a deal to skip. Even if they released a new FF next year it's unlikely that K1ii prices would go below that. I think the camera provides pretty much what I expected it to. It's a huge step up from K5.

I also upgraded my Capture one to v12 yesterday. Very powerfull new tools. Luminocity masking is just incredible. It's easy to create layers that earlier were just impossible. It will pay itself in better pictures.

iheiramo: Scary to think that Black Friday has made its way to Finland. Good shots shared. Seems like the M 120 might be a good portraits lens on full frame. I continue to be impressed by your ability to focus these lenses well on modern cameras.

You have some very nice results from the 120mm there. I agree the lens is a good performer but you have to be careful wide open.

Not all of the M series primes are soft wide open - of the ones I've tried the 28mm f/3.5 and the 50mm f/4 macro are extremely sharp even wide open.

Yes, I believe it will take good portraits in FF.

I use catch in focus and focus regognization a lot. Also the magnifying eye piece in K5 helps a lot and big bright view finder of K1 is even better.

Either one is not vety wide to begin with, but I agree that 28/3.5 is quite good wide open. I have to see the 50/4 this month. I think I have never shot it wide open before.

M 50 1.4 can be fun on crop for portraits.

I find my M 50 1.7 wide open to be pretty sharp and very sharp by f4. I only grab its bigger 1.4 brother if I know I'm going to need that extra 1/2 stop when shooting film.

I really like my M 28 2.8 mk2, M 40, and M 50 1.7. I really should spend more time with my M 85 and I want to get an M 20.

This was quite some time ago but as Suomi is getting a mention - a rather old film shot - almost certainly on my ME Super. Judging by the colour certainly the SMC M 50mm I had/have.

I used to work for a Finnish company and travelled there regularly from 1992 to 2004. Miss that country and it's people. This shot was 1995.

Have recently started using it again. What a perfect package.
