First shot with the SMC M 100mm f/4 Macro

Recently acquired this lens from a camera dealer in S. Korea via eBay. This is one of my first shots taken on the K-70, 1/180, ISO 400. I also bought a 50mm f/1.7 from Italy, and both lenses are in Mint condition inside and out. So yes, there are loads of these lenses out there! I also have some other lenses from the eighties and my old SLR days which also work perfectly.

Haven't used K1ii much so far as weather has been dark and cloudy and I have been in enough trouble to find shooting for single in challenge. But today we had bright and clear day, so played also with K1ii and M35/2. I'm skiing near polar circle, so even at midday sun isn't visible exept from hill tops at this time of year.

The days are starting to get longer. We aren't anywhere near the arctic circle, as we call it, but living in a North South oriented Valley sunrise and sunset are are often more than an hour later (sunrise) and earlier (sunset) than they should be. I like your sky shot very much.

The missing piece of my collection is on the way from Canada. Couldn't find M150 from Finland, so bought it thru PF. Now I have all the M series primes from M28/2.8 to M*300/4. If LBA allows I'll skip the M400, M20 and M28/2, as I don't think I need them and too expensive to get just for single in challenge. I still have 2 months to shoot on my APSC round in the SIC before I can start shooting them in FF.

Some leftovers from M50/4 I'm using this month in SIC:

I've been impressed with this lens. It sure will be hard to pick a favorite fifty.

Over the weekend I ordered, via evilbay, an M20 f4. Fingers crossed as I don't have a perfect record with ebay purchases... If this works out, I would have a travel trio of primes; M 20, M 40 or M 50 1.7, and M 85.

I am considering selling my Kiron 28 f2 and Albinar 28 f2.8 and possibly my M 28 f2.8 mk2, to fund the purchase of an M 28 f2. I like the Kiron okay but it does some odd things with highlights wide open when they're closer to the edge of the frame. No idea what M 28 f2's go for in good condition...

Compact travel trio. Even if you take all four
Based on focal lenths 40 might be better in between model, but 50 is sharper, faster and shorter MFD. I have travelled with M40 alone on APSC body and been happy with it.

Never seen M28f2 on sale, but PF lens reviews give it price around $300. On typical scale I would expect to put down 300-400€ to get one in (or into) Finland.

Agreed, the M 28 f2 seems pretty rare. It would be nice to sell some glass off and hone in on a more streamlined collection of 28's...

I'm done with November Single In Challenge and time for my monthly wrap up. In December I participate with M50/4 macro. Still shooting SIC in APSC format and keep on using K5 as my main camera in it to keep my results comparable to previous lenses. After December I only have M35/2.8 and M150/3.5 left in my first test round of M series primes between M28/2.8 and M*300/4. I still haven't found the M150 so at least it will be delayed to later times. I'm quite eager to start the second round in FF

I went into the month with high expectations. This is the tele lens in M series between 100 and 200mm. A lot like M100/2.8, but better in everything. Only negative surprice during the month has been green and purple fringing. It can be quite severe with this lens and need to be taken in consideration. Like all the M's it's a bit soft wide open. Usable for bokeh shots, but I prefer to stop it down to 4 if possible. From f5.6 it's really sharp.

November is probably the worst month to shoot in Finland. Dark, rainy and colorless month and it can be seen in the album: SIC 2018 11 Pentax M120/2.8 | Flickr

I really like this lens. It's sharp, typical M series rendering and nice bokeh. Also very compact for it's focal lenght so easy to carry on trips. It's been the long lens on my travel bag and continue to be in the future. This lens is a keeper.

This lens is reasonably priced for it's quality and therefore excellent value. It's a bit unusual focal length and not very famous, so apparently people just don't know about it. If you find it somewhere, I recommend you to get it.

Wide open:

I guess the water tanks are empty in the trailers? And no toilet?
