Ski lift parts. No idea what would be the right name for these in english when I'm not even sure what to call them in finnish

K1ii M100/4 ISO400 f4 1/250:

I rarely use filter effects, but in this case I thought it might make the shot better.
You have winter already in Finland? We are not that far and we had 20 degrees last weekend 🙄

In the north is. To the south coast it will typically arrive somewhere in December or January.

I enjoy using my Pentax manual focus lens (which is really my dad's lens), but am afraid to use it for my commercial photography. My commercial photography is limited as I am an attorney and my commercial photography is out in the field. I have limited opportunity to get it right, and my confidence is not high. So with these shots I don't generally take chances, although I consider myself fair to midland as a photographer, which is chancy.

I commonly use manual focus lenses with manual aperture. If you worry about exposure, simply set the lens to an appropriate aperture (or f/8 for general use), set the mode dial to M (manual) and press the green button to let the camera set the detected matching shutter speed. For focus, you can use LIVE VIEW which will allow you to precisely set the focus point using the rear screen with or without magnification.

Yes! I thought I became a bit 'lens broody' after taking this picture...

October Single In Challenge 2019 with K1ii & M100/4

30th

Day off from training, so I had some time to use on photography. I headed out to national park to shoot long exposure on rapid water. Took over 3 hours to make the trip, but it was nice to be out there. The place I shot is called Kiutakönnäs (Have fun figuring out pronunciation ) and is one of the most well known rapids in Finland. Famous for it's red cliff. Still I go with B&W as official shot

K1ii M100/4 ISO100 f11 15s on tripod ND100 filter:

I tried different exposure times to test proper amount of movement in water. Here is the same composition in color with 0.5s exposure:

100mm was too long a tool to shoot, so I shot mostly with F17-28 FE. Rapid bends and has steep shores, so it was hard get compositions that would actually show something. But I did take one from the downstream that show the red cliff:

I'll save the FE shots to post on PF in November as I need to reach the 100 again

Lovely work with the ND filter! I might have to procure a cheap one to try out now I’ve acquired a tripod...

I need to find a stream near where I live. I'm surrounded by sea, but there's nothing but burns here (small Scottish streams).

I've been happy with Hoya HD filters. I think it sold around 50€, which is quite reasonable. I bought cheap one before, but it was wasted money. Not effective enough to have significant effect on exposory times. Now I carry ND100 and ND1000 with me and they cover the needs I have.

I continue with anchor lift series as it's conveniently 30 meters from my caravan. Much faster than the 30km yesterday. I can start calling it series as I plan to take more in November.

Wrap up time! October is done and, thought the weather has been mostly very autumn like, I'm very pleased with my album this month. The week of snow in the end offered also new possibilities.

M100/4 was, like all M's, a pleasure to use. Buld quality is great and focus is smooth to handle. But with macro lens it's long way from MFD to infinity, so a lot of turning sometimes. F4 is a bit slow, but sharpness is perfectly usable wide open, so it's not so big deal compared to other tele lenses in the series. Like with other lenses in FF so far it feels it works better on K1ii than on APSC round. I've had contrast issues with this lens. At first I expected it to be lens feature, but during this month I realised that there is haze on the front lens, which explain the problem. Not a big issue to fix in pp, if you don't shoot against the sun.

Personally I like M100/4 macro more than M100/2.8, as macro feature set it aside from M85, M120 or M150, which triumph both 100mm options when shooting targets further away or landscapes. So I will use this lens in future when there is a chance I need its macro. The lens itself was a keeper by default as I got it as a gift

The end of the month was fun enough that I want keep on shooting in November, so SIC with M50/2 is in order. Also I need to get my 100 posts again and posting this stuff to PF is good excuse to build up post count. As I haven't heard any complains, I'll keep on cross posting to M club.
