December Single In Challenge 2019 with K1ii & M85/2

8th

Sunny day and I can move again, so took my SIC lens and a bunch of new ones and drove to one of my regular spots by the sea. I saw this composition just when I was about to head home. I had to change back to M85 from M42 lenses out there, thought I had planned to avoid that.

K1ii M85/2 ISO200 f2.8 1/250:

I'll post this as a second:

M40-80 f2.8

I bought this lens to shoot a single in challenge with it in future. Hadn't test it before so took it out today to take few shots. Against the sun at f16 was probably its best performance. No flare, pretty good starbursts and Capture 1 cleaned the little PF automaticly:

Stopped down landscapes look acceptable:

Close up wide open doesn't convince either by sharpness or bokeh. This is at 40mm. 80mm was worse.

M75-150

IQ from this zoom looks a lot better, thought f16 against the sun does provide annoying flare and lot more PF, but still in cleanable amount. Also the starbursts are not controlled as well:

But wide open close up is much better:

This might also be wide open. Can't remember anymore. Same to focal lengths. I believe previous was at 150mm and this close to 75mm, but can't be sure.

At f5.6 and focused somewhere in the middle provide great IQ and nice separation.

As a lens this looks more promising, but I rather use primes, so also this shall wait the SIC month on the shelf.

Thanks.

Still need to be careful, but glad to be able to move. I have a flight to Deaflympics in Italy on Tuesday morning and I would have hated to miss it.

Well for both shots I had to move some furniture out of the way.

For the second shot?

I started with the lens zoomed to 80mm, openend the shutter, then zoomed out to 40mm for about 4 seconds or so, then left the camera to finish the bulk of the exposure at 40mm.

One of the few things I find zoom lenses useful for, as I prefer fixed focal length lenses.

I go with macro of a familiar subject as I don't have time to hunt the shot.
