To save space and re-typing....here is a link to my new background leaves for my Cheater Branches. Otis thinks we need to start a new Forum here for cheaters?

Regards!
That's a great cheat there.

Thanks! I think it will be interesting....Here is one in the early morning light this morning.....certainly colorful! I missed a handsome Jay on the Cheater Branch, they rarely land there, but the blue would make a nice contrast...maybe I'll get another chance?
Regards!

Those jays are beautiful birds, Rupert, and you have recorded them so well. TFS. We don't see them here in the land downunda.

Thank you! Every morning we have a war between the Jays and the Squirrels over peanuts.. Sometimes I get some decent shots...other times not so much.
This morning the Jays won again, getting 18 of the 24 roasted peanuts I put out.

"We're gonna win!"

Even two or three at a time the squirrels couldn't keep up!

They are colorful birds, but very loud and noisy. Not all bad, they will signal a cat or a snake quickly...you can hear them all carrying on like crazy.

Best Regards!

Great shots Rupert, I rarely ever see Blue Jays anymore. Looks Otis is packing them in.

Thanks Scorpio, Xanis! My new background leaves are working out so far. Here is one from this evening......looks like he received a chest wound but lived through it. They are heavily hunted, but the season is in September and is well over now so they can relax and enjoy the safe Woods of Otis!

Regards!

I took my K-3 and 50-500 to a highschool basket ball game last night got 100 wasted shutter auctions. In TAv pushing the aperture wide open even at 1/250 my ISO bounced around 12500 and the photos looked more like sand paper than photos. I tried my other lens - Pentax 16-85mm f3.5/5.6 and it was no better. No reach either.

Any suggestions for fast moving targets under far too few florescent lights with the sigma?

PS I also have a Pentax 50mm f1.8 prime and a 1.4 converter think that would do any better?

Using the 50 1.8 and cropping is probably the best you can do with the lenses you have.

These big zooms are not that great with indoor sports. A 70-200 f2.8 will be your ideal long lens.

Didn't see much bird lately over here. Saw this little guy through my balcony searching for some food. Went out and bought two packs of peanuts for this little fella. Hope it gets him fed through winter.

This fella got the shock of his life this morning when my cat suddenly jumped and try to snatch him. He got away but the cat got one of its feather...and soon after he brought a friend along and tried to snatch those peanuts.

I like it...but come on! Two packs of peanuts is all you can do for the winter? Nice little Jay bird shot......he was lucky he got away!

I've got a little Woody that is hanging around lately...

Not much shooting here...been down with bronchitis this week....maybe next week will be better? I'm almost never sick.....and I don't like it one little bit!

Regards!
