A couple from the USAF Thunderbirds' visit to Austin this week. Second one baffled me - I liked the composition but the colors were wonky. It was hazy and sun was harsh. Converted it to B&W and I like it a lot.
K-50, Sigma 170-500 at about 300mm, ISO 800, 1/2000, f/16.

Hi guys,
I'm hoping to join in on some level: A while ago I scooped up a pentax bundle on ebay, I was after the 170-500 APO, and it come with a couple other smaller sigma zooms, and a Z1-P, which I didn't care for, but now after reading about the autofocus 35mm film camera's seems to function well, just disliked for it's appearances (a bit like it's new owner???)

Anyways, the 170-500 is in immaculate condition, but none of this gear had been used in years by the looks, and the focus was hard to turn: I turned it with a screwdriver for a while and it's better, but about 1 in 10 attempts my bodies can't focus it, as it sticks: So I took it into my friends shop: Expecting to be told the lens is old and there's better available.... He just rolls it in his hands, "this is a nice lens"... ok.

So it's getting fixed: Yay.

Its got slight fungus in it, but my friends said it's minor, not worth the risk or time attempting to clean it: Just don't let it get worse: I now have a dry box.

I've got a *ist DL2 and K100D, both 6MP, but the K100D has SR so that will be the weapon of choice with my wonky hands. Reading through this thread, reinforces what I thought: No it's not a professional lens, it just needs light, stability and fast shutter. Two of those I can control, the third, I've got to balance my expectations with my ability.

Regarding a cheater branch: What's the ideal situation for that in regards to being in the open/sun behind it/into it etc etc. I'd never heard of such a thing, but it's a brilliant idea: I've got parklands around me, and I reckon we could attract some colour from time to time.

Thanks Ray. I took that from the balcony of a unit at Broulee. So I was looking straight out at the upper part of the trees. A pretty handy spot to make bird images.
The 150-500 is ok isn’t it? Since I got the 55-300 plm, I haven’t used it much - the shorter lens gives such great images that I can crop really severely and I am doing better that at 500mm with the Sigma. (Well that is hand held anyway)

I've been hiding in my basement during our Provincial "Stay at Home order". After a dusting of snow, and a top up of the bird feeder, I had a cup of coffee at the kitchen table and grabbed a couple of the little birds.

Sigma 120-400 + K-1 in crop mode. (TAv 1/400 ƒ8) Next time I'll bump the shutter speed up because I missed a nuthatch and wren because of draggy shutter speed)

Scratching my head on this one, and I hope you all might have suggestion here.

Lens ID for my Pentax Lenses are outputted by Lightroom with out issue.

For my 120-400 Sigma I find that photos developed by the camera, Lens ID will follow along, but those I publish to Flickr by Lightroom from the RAW seem to blank Lens ID info for my Sigma. This seems to happen regardless of whether a lens correction is applied or not.

I see posting files to the forum the Lens ID is included with out issue which is all the more perplexing... Plus if I use the Lens data in Lightroom, I can only find it by focal lenght, because it shows as "Unknown Lens".

Can you help me figure out how to get Lens ID to show in my Flickr Post from Lightroom? I'd like to think I'm a smart guy, but I cannot figure this one.

Thanks

I like them Ray.
There is something regal about the posture of the second one!
Contrast against the very green grass is excellent.
