I guess I'm sorry I disturbed him?
Thats awesome

Otis is awesome.....and he will tell it to anyone that will listen!

Here is one Otis wanted posted.....he does hate birds, you know! Says they foul the air!

"Looky down there! It's that damn squirrel Otis and he has a BB gun!"

Here is the drawback to big slow lenses....you get a nice pose, you have a chance to get a shot, but the light is too low to get any speed handheld...even if the subject is relatively still.
Imagine at 1/500 ISO 200 f8....it could be so much better! But, I do recall not long ago that a shot at ISO 6400 wasn't worth snapping, so I am not complaining too much!

1/160 handheld ISO 6400 F 6.3 @ 500mm

Still...the bokeh was nice and the shot will be good printed on a matte paper card front where it won't matter much about the noise. I take the shot if I get a chance, some work, some don't, but space on a SD card is cheap, so why not!

Staying at or below 3200 will work most of the time for me, this one at 1600 worked out just fine for my needs!

Regards!

Yes, of course, and printing usually turns out better than what you see on the screen. It all depends on what your need is and the purpose of your shots.....mine are mostly for fun and use on greeting card fronts. I have galleries full of shots on Flickr to pick from when I need a special card. Otis is usually available to pose if I need something special in a hurry....of course, his modeling rates can get pretty high. He's not your average squirrel that will work for a couple of peanuts!

He didn't earn his life of leisure by being a poor negotiator!

Regards!

With or without the TC, I love those turtles!

Otis seconds that and asks for more handsome squirrels like that one! The nut is just a bonus!

I don't often use Jpegs, but sometimes they process better than the Raw files......these two did.

I was able to get some nice detail here at f7.1...I would love to be able to go to f8 and beyond and at lower than ISO 1600, but in these dark woods it is seldom possible.

In the low light, the Bigma does like to hunt. I am ordering a big of "Bird Dog Biscuits" on Amazon to see if it will help reduce the Bigma craving to hunt.

Regards!

Many thanks Rupert. I always enjoy your Bigma photos too, especially Otis & friends.

Love the heron and poking about estuaries. Are you super-gutsy and taking that 150-500 on the kayak? I have not been able to talk myself into that yet.

Great shot! He needs to borrow Otis' BB gun!

Regards!...Otis said he should hold his ground, Army squirrels have been dispatched to give him a hand...or paw!

Going through some old Bigma photos - these were at various focal lengths (see exif):
1. Local gymkhana
2. Norah Head Lighthouse
3. Pacific Black Duck in flight
4. Snow Leopard female at Mogo Zoo (didn't manage to blur out the bars entirely)

Nice shots! I really love that duck, perfect! Nice Leopard shot too!

A few new Grackle shots....I tried to stay at or below ISO 3200

Sorry about the missing leg.....Otis tore it off...said it "tasted like chicken!"

On the Cheater Branch

This one at ISO 6400 wasn't half bad...you can sometimes get a decent shot at 6400 or higher if you get lucky!

ISO 800 will get you some better detail!

That Black duck in flight is excellent. The others are fine as well.
Some Blue Heron shots with the Bigma.

Catch of the day. 500mm f9 1/100 ISO 400
