Hey Phillip,

Your first post was nice, but your second one is awesome. Your flight shots are great, I would never consider the DA560 a wing shooter! The swallow very nice and I love the little black guy with the yellow crown.

Murray

Thanks Murray

Love your bear shots. I will probably never have the opportunity to see them in the wild really beautiful animals.

....and if you do, let's hope the 560 is the smallest lens you're looking at them through.

I guess I better not show you some I took with my FA*200mm F2.8, or my DA*60-250mm F4.0 , don't worry I won't post them here

Haha! You're either brave, or shooting from a very safe location.

Some are really awesome, some others - the first ones - not that sharp. Maybe the consequence of a Learning curve ?
I have to plead a bit guilty here. I included my (favorite) shots more for the fact that I captured the scene than produced and achieved magazine quality sharpness. Most were stealthy, fleeting shots in heavy woods. I rarely get to shoot less than ISO 800 in the Pacific Northwest and I'm still a novice when it comes to processing. The learning curve, however, is an absolute joy.

Here is a beanbag shot from the year with better clarity, followed by a BIF shot two weeks ago on one of our (rare) clear sky days.

Well there's also another difference... one of them gets you to work.

Trying not to be redundant with the 300 club, here is a handheld shot of a short eared owl from New Years Day.

And a long eared owl from the tripod on New Years Eve.

Really nice Owl shots!

Has anyone heard that the price of the DA 560 was going to drop down closer to the Sigma 500? I thought there was a post before Christmas somewhere on the Forum to that effect.

Yes, there was a claim that Pentax France would drop the lens price to 3999,- because sales were close to none.
It never happened though....

When/if it gets down close to the Sigma 500mm price then I'm ready to purchase. Maybe it will happen in time. I think that at around $5,000 they'll move some in the U.S..
