First outdoor images

The weather has been miserable for photography, but I did finally take the DA560 to the local aviary to test it out. Just snapshots, but the lens handles well. So far, I need to use it on a monopod, but, given that, I think it is sharp enough (f/5.6 at near minimum focus) ISO 800 (go KP!!, but I do hope to shoot at lower ISOs one day when it's brighter):

I'm so grateful to be able to use this lens. I know I can make some images that will be memorable, at least for me!

Moving Targets are not easy, but the KP is the first camera I've trusted to track in continuous AF. The wind was blowing the lens all over the place. Using this lens in the field is a real challenge!

Great shooting and beautiful image! I think that you found what is the greatest challenge for such a long lens like the DA 560!! I tend to retract the hood in such cases, it helps a bit!

Morning Cormorant on the River

Sometimes I'm lucky enough to naturally wake up for golden hour on the river. Today was one of those glorious days. DA560 on KP.

LOL, Wwesty, sometimes insomnia works in my favor. So, instead of rolling over and trying to get back to sleep, I peeked out the window and couldn’t believe my eyes. I’m thinking I need to wake up early more often.

Wonderful image! Congratulations! I love the bokeh on some pics like this one (or the one with the hawk in flight above) which is not completely blurry but has a unique rendering, characteristic of the DA 560!
