Originally posted by Mikesul I have enjoyed the DFA 150-450 on many hikes of several miles. But with years I find the big lens more tiring for long periods. BUT it is always a joy to see the results so i still take it out often. It has only seen a tripod a few times and then only birding from a balcony. I am 75 and the shoulder knows it
10 years ago I would not have hesitated to take it back packing. Wish I had had it then!
I agree with your sentiments.
It can become a bit tiring after 3 or so hours of walking in the bush.
I've been out of action for a few months now, due to shoulder surgery, hoping to be back in action soon.
I recently purchased a DA* 300 f4, to have something a bit lighter, in the hope that I might be able to get out birding again a bit sooner...I've not had a chance to try it yet, but I somehow doubt that it is going take over from the DFA 150-450.
I will be 75 very soon, and hoping I can keep using this wonderful lens for some time come.
Cheers,
Terry
