Stunning! At 5000 ISO I would have expected more grain. Did you use a DeNoising program?

Cheers,
Loyd

Gorgeous detail. Did you use "spot" focus?

Thanks! Yes, Spot for this one because he wasn't moving too fast or flying, just walking and hunting for bait fish.
For BIF I still use SEL 9 or even more points if against a clear sky of BIF's.

Thanks Loyd. Yes, I used the new NoNoise AI utility inside ON1 Photo RAW 2022, which is really a game changer for wildlife photography. Using TAv mode I can now set the shutter speed to freeze motion and stop down a little (f/8 in this instance) to increase depth of field and not have to worry about ISO. Let it be whatever.

Having said that, with the K3iii the noise at ISO 5000 wasn't that bad anyway.

The image was taken in deep shadows, so lighting was very flat. I livened it up a bit with ON1's Sunshine and Sun Flare filters.

Your photos (and bertwert's panorama) are testimony that this wonderful lens can capture more than birds!

Loyd
