This bird was relatively close, so I should have stopped down a couple of stops more for this shot. Hindsight, hindsight, .......Still need to find the discipline to think more about settings before shooting!
Great shots! I've only ever seen one once, in the distance, near Carnarvon Gorge. I certainly never got the chance to take a photo that I recall.

Thanks Eric. Your description is quite apt - there is definitely the hint of a road-runner build in this bird!
A new bird for me - one of 32 new (for me) birds I photographed on that August 2023 trip to Cairns and north of Cairns.
It looks superficially like a Roadrunner, but is much more like a Turkey, being a metre tall!

I didn't feel like driving people around all day on my 50th birthday, so I went to Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge. Weather wasn't great, but the waterfowl were...

Sighting these was a revelation. Had never even heard of them. The more bird species one gets to know, the more one realises how little one still knows of the whole bird world, or even just of the birds in one's own country.
Well done! I think I first saw one near Charters Towers. Possibly also in the vicinity of Emerald.

Kestral

Saw this American Kestrel alongside the road near the house. backed up and as I had my 150-450 on the k3iii, got some shots before it hopped six or eight feet a couple of time. I drove off letting it be, not that I was that close anyway. Cropped and resized.

Hmmm - this thread seems to be going to sleep, so some recent pics to liven things up again.

Sulphur-crested Cockatoo in the local neighbourhood.

Looks like you may need to put on the 1.4 TC for more reach.

Red-backed Fairy Wren

(Cross-post)

This little bird had been on my "want" list since I got my 150-450mm zoom in March 2021! Got off my butt and visited a local nature reserve where I knew it had been recently photographed. Saw it, but was too slow to swing the camera and monopod around, thought I had lost my chance. Then it returned and treated me to a 10 or 15 minute flitting all around me! In the end, got off around 30+ shots of the cute little blighter!

Trying out some astro shots from my house. It's not very dark, and we are close to the big city, but this is amazing to me.
