Maybe 330mm instead of 450mm
From my early tests mine is a little better at ~300 than 450. But still very good at 450. I turned SR off all the time for the vultures.
Maybe you could try some shots on tripod in a hide with SR off and at least at f6.3, that would be the best case.

What method did you use to determine the +4

progressive trials, using a test pattern found on the net (link : Squit Photo)

taking pictures at -8, -7, -6....0, +1, +2....
& compare results

max aperture, SR turn off, tripod, daylight...
The same test on my 21ltd = nothing's to change, no ajustments

Same as above basically....... different test pattern..... but quite repeatable.....at a pinch AA batteries on a diagnal.

In field check using dead people......

Sorry....my sense of humour.... (technically.... my mother assisted me with this one)

Is f5.6 wide open at 380mm on that lens? I think you are getting used to the lens now.

Great captions christiandre! These are fine pics! As far as I remember you were not satisfied with the lens and you were about to return it. Do you still have the same opinion about the lens and its capabilities?

^^ What @timautin said! Your pics are great and I think this lens has started to deliver for you also! I'm not a Pentax salesman and I have stopped trying to persuade people that this is a high quality lens from Pentax, but I was sure that you would end up loving this lens. I still have the bigma but this lens is a definite step forward for my photography. The more I use it the more I love the results! I'm more than happy for choosing to upgrade!

I tried turning the SR on, and despite many members who say that on a monopod it must be turn off, I find that most of my results are sharpest.

this friday morning :

I'm much the same. To my mind there is no doubting the little bit of extra IQ you get with a 560 to other high end prime, but with the loss of flexability and twice++ the price...... so all in all a good compromise.

I like this image very much - great sharpness, colors & interesting bokeh. Thanks! With monopod I also turn SR on.
