One from yesterday, handheld, uncropped, obliging little fellow, normally they scuttle off into the grass before I get the camera ready.

The Quail certainly does not want his photo taken Dieseler . Quails are so frustrating to photograph .

Just got this lens a couple of days ago. Nothing exciting to show yet (but hopefully to come), just some testshots. I've never owned a lens this long before and i feel there might be a bit of a learning curve... At least now I don't have any excuses anymore, with a lens like this I just have to get out more.

These are all from the yard, the first one is taken through the kitchenwindow.

I am an avian artist based in New Zealand and I was searching online for good reference shots for my next canvas when this image popped up in a google search. Would you mind if I based my art on this image as a reference?

I got to play with the 150-450 at my local store today. It's a nice rugged lens with instant lock on even on my K10D which is what I had with me. Nothing exciting but I did take a couple of shots.

Sorry to interupt your thread again people. I cannot find a PM option, but I am sure to be looking in the wrong place. boydbowlin please would you email me? I had meant the image of the two parrots but the more I look at the single drinking bird the more I like it and would like to attempt to paint this. Is there any chance to get the image at a higher resolution so that when I come to painting feathers I can hone in on the detail more?
