In my third year now of unsuccessfully trying to photograph a flammulated owl, I got this Common Poorwill as a consolation prize.
K3 at 220 mm. Despite what Flickr says, the flash did fire.

A Black Kite kindly banking to light up the underside...usually all in shadow.
