Smashing shots all!
I am not much of a birder but sometimes you have something on your doorstep that you can't resist trying to capture.
So, here's a trio showing a local baby Tawny Owl's first trip out of the nest, all taken with K-1 at 450mm with some cropping. Very dark (in fact, I generally couldn't see the bird with my own eyes and had to rely on liveview). Therefore I needed to use long exposure (praying for the little bird to sit still!) and some HDR/processing to balance the dark areas with the sky visible through the trees.
The parents did not spend the day inside the nest hole and sat nearby from dusk calling to tempt the little one out, before starting to hunt and feed. Awesome birds!
Hope you enjoy.
