Find myself returning to this spot again and again to see how many different lighting situations I can capture. This day saw many puffy clouds about. These three shots were taken 16 minutes apart. I found it interesting how the passing clouds supplemented the existing layers. I just can't stop using the 150-450 for landscape shots.

Have you done any time lapse photography at that spot?

When I am out west, the D FA 150-450 is one of my favorite landscape lenses too.

They are all the same species! The adult is white with bright yellow legs and bill, with a red tip on the bill. They don't look like this till the 4th year. Before that, they pass through four distinct phases. The dark brown plumage with a black bill is in the first year. The cream-to-pale-yellow bill with a dark tip is the 4th phase.

All shots at 450 mm.

Great blue herons in the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge in New York State. From 3 1/2 years ago. Came across them will looking at some older RAW images. Cross posted.

Very nice shots. Of course, it looks similar to our Porcupines here in the states. I notice one of the quills has red on it. Blood perhaps?

Totally unrelated. They're monotremes (egg-laying mammals). Their only relative is the platypus.

Here are four more from my current favorite location (Smoke Tree Point).
All taken between 6:02 and 6:46 last evening as a storm was clearing.
All at 450mm, f/8, on a tripod, and utilizing PS. One of them is cropped to 16:9.
Oh, and captured with the K1.

Overall echidnas are much smaller than a porcupine, the quills are much shorter and stubbier.

The red mark is an identification mark put on by researchers counting the number of echidnas in this particular nature reserve. Another method they've used is to put coloured plastic straws on the quills.
