Virginia rail, usually heard and not seen. Today it was briefly visible. Handheld with the K3
Great shots! It's very similar to the Baillon's Crake we have in Australia.

Very nicely done. Both of those have a three dimensional look to them.

Thank you both, I was lucky to get it. The only other time I've seen one I had to shoot at ISO 4000 and a speed of 1/40 in fading light.

I had to look up the Baillon's Crake, it's a nice bird. I searched the forum and you posted one in 2014, but unfortunately the photo is not linking properly anymore

My real target that day was a common yellowthroat, which over the years had never given me a clear shot. This was probably my best of the day. It eyed, but did not go after the insect on the adjacent leaf.

That's a good shot too! A lot of my photos which were previously on Flickr were removed when the website changed hands. The closest thing to the Baillon's which I have online is the Buff-banded Rail, which is a much bigger bird. Apologies for the off-topic post, because this shot used the DA 55-300 not the DFA 150-450.

Here is a shot from this weekend's Ocean City Air Show. Shot with a K-1 Mark II and 150-450 zoom. First time I have seen A-10s up close.

I've yet to see one pop the head off the fish yet. I see them flying right after the catch or on a pole just like this but I want to see the maneuver.

I was at the Southern end of Assateague Island last week and caught this one. It was very gusty; so much so I had to lean on the car to stablilize the shot.

Great Egret - Back to the wind.
