Thank you both, I was lucky to get it. The only other time I've seen one I had to shoot at ISO 4000 and a speed of 1/40 in fading light.
I had to look up the Baillon's Crake, it's a nice bird. I searched the forum and you posted one in 2014, but unfortunately the photo is not linking properly anymore
My real target that day was a common yellowthroat, which over the years had never given me a clear shot. This was probably my best of the day. It eyed, but did not go after the insect on the adjacent leaf.
