There is clearly a significant discrepancy in iq, and an optical misalignment caused by the knock could certainly be a cause of that. I suggest you try some manually focussed test pics, using a suitable test subject, tripod etc.

Thank you dear Rob. No I did n't focus adjust the 150-450, I had no problems before the failure. I think that my lens was more sharp and had more contrast before the service. Just to give you an idea, a bee eater picture is attached, taken before the failure-service. I am trying to understand if a professional aligment of the lens will fix the problem or I just have to forget it and get another copy.
I agree that it seems to have had much better colour and contrast before than after, although the fairly plain subject doesn't help. Still, I would try adjusting the fine sharpness to see if you can at least get better focus.

Wow, that is one beautiful shot, zisisant. One of my favourite birds, too.

Are any of you using Circular Polarizing Filters? What one? Is there a particular concern about using a CPL with telephoto lenses? (I have an Athabasca CPL filter fir my 28-105mm that cautions not to use on lenses over 200mm).

I haven't found polarisers particularly necessary with a DSLR. However in situations with reflection (like around water or the sea) they could be handy.

They are super useful around foliage/greenery too.

I've overlaid two images, and revealed the polarized as a slice in the middle.

Fair enough! I've certainly used a polariser in the past. I might consider getting one for the HDDA 16-85. It would double as an ND filter.

Neat! This lens/body combo has my attention, I keep wondering if the K3III is an upgrade over my K1 for my 150-450mm...

I hate to ask, but did you have to raise the exposure in post a lot for this shot, and is it heavily cropped?

Just wondering because it looks a little pronounced in the grain department for iso140, if the exif on Flickr is correct.
Thanks!
Eric

If you shoot small or distant wildlife like birds or animals you don't want to get close to like bears, I think the K-3 III would be great with with the 150-450. I'm getting better with C.AF and getting more keepers than not even with my K-3 I.

I didn't have to increase the exposure in post. I often add some texture and also clarity which will show up as grainy. The image is about 75% of the original so not too much.
